History

In 2020, Africare announced that it was winding down its operations and entrusting its mission and supported the formation of an autonomous new African-based organization PanAfricare.  PanAfricare is headquartered in Senegal.

PanAfricare is an independent non-profit organization, established in July 2020, with its Headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. Though recently established, the majority of PanAfricare staff are former Africare employees.

PanAfricare, rooted in Africare,  will build on the technical and operational experience of Africare in order to continue to serve the African population.  PanAfricare is currently one of the most experienced development organizations of its kind in Africa, African established, African led, and working across all regions of sub-Saharan Africa. 

PanAfricare will continue Africare’s legacy of implementing programs with a commitment toward ‘improving lives and building futures’ on the African continent. PanAfricare partners with Friends of PanAfricare a 501 (c) (3) US-based organization that will support PanAfricare and other organizations with similar missions in sub-Saharan Africa
